SERGE De FILIPPI

Born in 1929, Serge De Filippi became a student at l'Ecole Nationale d'Art Décoratif in Nice at the age of fourteen. After graduating, he then attended the l'Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux arts in Paris in the sculpture department. In 1957, Serge won the prestigious Monumental Sculpture Prize in Rome.

In 1956, he began working in the famous advertising firm Publicis and quickly rose to the position of Art Director. He began painting as a "Sunday" painter in 1972; his work was quickly appreciated by the public and art world and he left his job at Publicis to devote full time to painting. His favorite subjects are scenes of Normandy, where he lives part time, and its harbors, the ocean and the beaches. His other subjects include scenes of Paris, its streets, markets and sporting events such as tennis, golf and jogging.
